Winnie Amono is the Administrative Officer at Raising Voices. She has experience in customer service, focusing on financial management, logistics and organizing, stores and supplies, and general office operations. She consistently meets challenges with determination and good spirit. Winne holds a diploma in Tours and Travel and a certificate in Airline Computer Applications from Career Institute in Kampala. She is also working on a Business Administration degree at Ndejje University.

Peter Bahemuka is a Senior Program Officer in the Violence Against Children Department at Raising Voices. He has a background in the media, civil society and advocacy through his work with the Uganda Journalists Safety Committee, the NGO Election Monitoring Group, and the EU Election Observation Mission. He also has experience working to support homeless and vulnerable youth with Framework Housing Association in Nottingham, UK. Peter is a Knight Professional Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, USA and holds a BA in Communication Science from the University of South Africa, Pretoria. He is currently a Commonwealth scholar pursuing an MSc in Development Management at the UK’s Open University. Peter believes strongly in liberty, equality and social justice.

Mark Can is a Senior Program Officer in the Violence Against Children Department at Raising Voices. He is responsible for the Good Schools Program. He has four years’ experience managing gender-based violence programs in Northern and Northeastern Uganda with the American Refugee Committee and International Rescue Committee. Mark has a BA in Social Sciences from Makerere University. He also holds certificates in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Training of Trainers in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change from the John Hopkins School of Public Health.

Jean Kemitare is a Senior Program Officer with the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Network at Raising Voices. She coordinates all activities and communications for the network. Jean has a background in capacity development through her work with groups such as the Development, Research, and Training Organization. Jean additionally has experience in research and advocacy and enjoys working on strategies that lead to the real empowerment of African women. She holds a BA in Social Work from Makerere University and is currently pursuing an MA in Social Sector Planning and Management, also at Makerere.

Hellen Kibenge is a Senior Program Officer in the Violence Against Children Department at Raising Voices. She has eight years of experience managing child and youth development programs in Uganda and has been involved in various organizational development initiatives in Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and India. Hellen received her MA in Human Resource Management from the University of Sydney in Australia, a post-graduate certificate in NGO Leadership and Management from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies from Makerere University.

Evelyn Letiyo is a Senior Program Officer in the Violence Against Women Department at Raising Voices. Evelyn provides training, technical support and advocacy for the Violence Against Women department. She has five years of experience in lecturing, research and training, and is passionate about women issues. Evelyn is a feminist who is actively involved in national and regional feminist organizing. She holds a BA in Social work and Social Administration and an MA in Social Sector Planning and Management from Makerere University

Lori Michau is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Raising Voices. She has spearheaded the creation of the GBV Prevention Network, now with over 380 members in the Horn, East and Southern Africa. Prior to Raising Voices, Lori was Program Development Coordinator at Jijenge! Women’s Center for Sexual Health in Mwanza, Tanzania. She is author of various articles and program tools including Mobilizing Communities to Prevent Domestic Violence: A Resource Guide for Organizations in East and Southern Africa and the SASA! Activist Kit for Preventing Violence Against Women and HIV. She received her MA in Human Rights from Makerere University in Uganda and has been based in East Africa since 1995.

Dipak Naker is the Co-Founder and Co-Director at Raising Voices, where he manages the work on preventing violence against children. He is also a Co-Founder of Center for Domestic Violence Prevention and serves on the Board of several dynamic organizations, including Twaweza. Dipak has worked with a wide range of people, from rural community members in Uganda to academics in highly respected institutions to prevent violence against children. He is a skilled facilitator of capacity-building processes, and has consulted for various international agencies. He has developed an award winning multiyear, multimedia campaign for preventing violence against children in Uganda and written and edited several substantive publications including the Good School Toolkit that is being used in more than 500 schools. Dipak is passionate about developing practical ways of preventing violence against children.

Janet Nakuti is a Senior Program Officer in Monitoring and Evaluation at Raising Voices. She has worked with a number of international organizations on community development, including Save the Children and UPHOLD Uganda. She has focused on advocacy, mentoring program stakeholders, training, and research using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Janet is interested in advocating for the rights of women and children as a vehicle for community development. She holds a BA in Sociology, an MA in Human Rights, and a post-graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management from Makerere University. 

Annet Naluyiga is the Operations Coordinator at Raising Voices. She is responsible for ensuring effective operations and provides administrative support to all of the program areas. She is a professional accountant and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Uganda, and holds an MBA from Makerere University. She values integrity and honesty. She is a strong believer in the importance of creating a violence free environment for all people and enjoys working with a committed team. She is passionate about advocating for real empowerment of African women and working for social justice.

Clinton Okecha is the driver/office Assistant at Raising Voices. He helps with maintenance and general operations at the office. In addition to his work at Raising Voices, he is also the Chairman of his local area. He holds a certificate in driving skills.

Gladys Rachiu is the Office Assistant at Raising Voices. She is responsible for general office upkeep, delivery of mail and messages, photocopying, media scans, filing and many other tasks. 

Lucie Rwomushana is a Program Officer with the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Network at Raising Voices. She holds an MSc in Dental Public Health from King’s College in London, a higher diploma in Dental Public Health from Mulago Paramedical School, and a post-graduate certificate in Research Methods and Writing Skills from the Centre for Basic Research in Kampala. Lucie has a strong background in advocacy, fundraising, and research. Her consultancy work has included organizations such as the Youth Social Work Association, Uganda Law Society, and Citizen’s Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda. Lucie believes strongly in the right to equal treatment of all individuals as equal human beings.

Tabitha Suubi is an Assistant Program Officer in the Violence Against Children Department at Raising Voices. She has significant experience in raising awareness and mobilizing community through her work with the Center for Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP). She has also undertaken research projects with the Center for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). Tabitha holds a BA in Social Sciences from Makerere University. She is also currently pursuing her MA in Peace and Conflict Studies at Makerere that has included two exchange study programs with Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada and the University of Marburg in Germany.

Stephen Wasonga is the accountant at Raising Voices. He is responsible for managing program and organizational finances. He holds a BA in Commerce from Nairobi University. He is also a student member of Level II Chartered Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom. Stephen has over nine years of experience in finance and management and has worked extensively in Uganda and throughout East Africa.

Robyn Yaker is the Violence Against Women Prevention Coordinator at Raising Voices. She comes to the organization with field experience spanning a wide range of countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. Prior to joining Raising Voices, Robyn worked as a VAW specialist primarily in humanitarian settings with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and UNICEF, supporting communities affected by conflict and natural disasters. She is passionate about developing innovative approaches to violence prevention that is based on ongoing learning and practical results. Robyn holds an MA in International Development from the American University School of International Service in the United States.

Kirsten Zook is a Senior Program Officer working in both the Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children departments at Raising Voices. She has been involved with community development work in East Africa and Latin America since 2006. Prior to Raising Voices, she gained experience in research, advocacy and communications through her work with organizations such as the Foundation for Sustainable Development. Kirsten is passionate about empowering women and innovating creative methods to prevent violence against women and children. She graduated with a degree in Anthropology from Oberlin College in the United States.

Marco Tibasima is a talented artist who brings ideas to life. His work appeals to audiences of all ages. He injects humor and energy into his art, which comes in a variety of media including fine art, comics, large street art, and magazines. Marco began his career with Kuleana Center for Child Rights and now works as a freelance artist for a variety of Tanzanian and international organizations on promoting social justice. CEDOVIP Staff

Yvette Alal. Program Officer for the Institutional Strengthening Program. 
Yvette Alal holds a Bachelors degree in Adult and Community Education from Makerere University. She also holds a certificate in Voluntary Testing and Counseling in HIV/AIDS from the Institute of Advanced Leadership. Yvette has five years of experience mobilizing communities to address human rights challenges, with a focus on preventing domestic violence. She works with the Uganda Police Force and the health sector to strengthen institutional responses to VAW cases reported in Kampala. Yvette believes that if everyone chooses to have violence-free homes, then we will all have violence-free communities and violence-free countries.

Paul Bbuzibwa. Program Officer for the Local Activism Program.
Paul Bbuzibwa interned with CEDOVIP for a year before becoming the Program Officer for Local Activism. He holds a BA degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University and certificates in Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Counseling from Makerere University, and in Human Rights from Youth for Human Rights International. Paul worked as a Counselor in Kalisizo Hospital and as a Community Development Officer Intern in Rakai. He works directly with community activists to spearhead grassroots efforts in preventing VAW. Through his work, Paul wants to influence communities to treat men and women as equals.

Josephine Kamisya. Senior Program Officer for the National Prevention of Violence Against Women Program.
Josephine holds a BA Honors Degree in Development Studies from Makerere University and is working towards an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies. She has several years of experience in mobilizing communities to promote human rights and to prevent violence against women. Josephine has over 5 years experience in strengthening capacity and building motivation of civil society organizations to prevent violence against women in Uganda. 

Deus Kiwanuka. Senior Officer and SASA! Team Leader.
Deus manages the implementation of SASA! and works closely with local, faith-based, and opinion leaders to create safe communities. He studied Philosophy, Democracy and Development at Katigondo National Major Seminary and Uganda Martyrs University. Deus has five years’ experience working with communities to prevent VAW. He coordinated the Safe Homes and Respect for Everyone (SHARE) Project at the Rakai Health Sciences Program. Before that, he did research on male circumcision, also at Rakai. He is a trained counselor and is passionate about human rights observation and promoting respect for every human being.

Richard Makumbi. Assistant Program Officer for the GBV-Joint Program in Busoga.
Richard has a BA in Social Work and Social Administration from the Makerere Institute for Social Development. He has worked with a number of organizations to address HIV and to promote women’s rights. Richard is passionate about protecting the safety and rights of women in intimate relationships. 

Rose Muduwa. Office Assistant.
Rose is responsible for a myriad of details that keep CEDOVIP running, including her assistance in monitoring community activities. She is also the Secretary for Women at her Local Council Government, a Secretary for Finance for LC2 in Nsooba East, and a pastor at Rock of Ages Faith Ministries in Mulago.

Tina Musuya. Executive Director.
Tina holds an MA in Sociology from Makerere University. Under her guidance, CEDOVIP won the 2010 UNAIDS Red Ribbon Award for innovative work in preventing violence against women and HIV. Tina has seven years experience of working with communities, police, civil society and policy makers to prevent VAW. She oversees CEDOVIP’s violence against women prevention work. She coordinated the development of the Uganda Police Force handbook and the training manual in order to diversify the constituent base. Tina helped draft and successfully campaigned for passage of the Domestic Violence Act, and the Kawempe Domestic Violence Bylaw.

Olive Nabisubi. Program Officer for the Local Activism Program.
Olive Nabisubi holds a BA in Development Studies from Makerere University. She also holds certificates in Counseling of Domestic Violence survivors, Good Clinical Practice and Subject Protection, and Qualitative and Quantitative Participatory Research. Before joining CEDOVIP, she worked as a research assistant with Raising Voices on the baseline research for the SASA! program. Prior to that, she worked as a behavioral assistant researcher with the Rakai Health Sciences Program in Southern Uganda. She is passionate about empowering vulnerable populations like women and children to be a voice for the voiceless.

Wateya Peter Nangoy. Driver.
Peter is in charge of transport for staff as well as general maintenance of the CEDOVIP vehicle. He has been driving since 1987 and has his International Driving Permit as well as certificates in defensive driving. Peter does much more than drive – he promotes non-violence and women’s rights wherever he goes! 

Denis Kizito Odok. Senior Administrator and Accounts Officer.
Denis holds a BA in Commerce from Makerere University and a diploma in Business Studies from Makerere University Business School. He is also a student member of Level III Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. Before working at CEDOVIP, Denis worked for Human Rights Organization in Northern Uganda and the Central Region. He has worked at CEDOVIP for 7 years and manages operations and administration for the team.

Hope Turyasingura. Technical Advisor.
Hope has been in the women's movement in Uganda for over ten years. Formerly, she was a Training and Credit Officer at the National Association of Women's Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU). Hope has been working with CEDOVIP since its inception in 2000. She has a Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama from Makerere University, and certificates in Education, Public Administration, and Management. Hope also has a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, specializing in Gender and Development and is currently pursuing an MA in Human Rights. She is a passionate activist for women's rights.
