SASA! In Action, Kampala, Uganda

Raising Voices, in partnership with the Center for Domestic Violence Prevention working in six communities in Kampala using the SASA! methodology. The program seeks to prevent VAW and HIV by changing the attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate power imbalances in relationships between men and women. This community mobilization approach inspires community activism and ownership and uses a variety of strategies to challenge social norms that perpetuate violence against women and HIV/AIDS.

Implementation of the SASA! approach began in April 2008 after the baseline survey was complete. SASA! implementation in Kampala will be rigorously monitored through quantitative and qualitative methods. Learn more about the SASA! Study here
