Specific Objectives

• To initiate and foster a public discourse and action on the issue of violence against children with a broad cross section of community members in Uganda.

• To promote an understanding of children’s experience of violence against them and the broader consequences of the violence for the community.

Strategy

Two interrelated strategies are currently being used to achieve the objectives outlined above.

a) A multifaceted media campaign (radio, TV, newspaper) aimed at creating a climate of collective reflection towards preventing violence against children was launched in 2008. The aim is to create a nationwide discussion on why violence against children happens, how it happens, and how it can be prevented. The components of this campaign are:
