Specific Objectives
- To engage a broad section of community in a dialogue about violence against children.
- To promote an understanding of children’s experience of violence against them and the broader consequences of the violence for the community.
A multifaceted awareness raising campaign based on the findings of the research is now underway. The aim of the national media campaign is to begin a nationwide discussion on violence against children, in particular, why it happens and how it can be prevented. Seminars and discussion meetings will be held in communities in the five districts where the consultations were held to feedback the information gathered.
- 9 radio programs have been recorded and will be aired on various stations in at least four languages.
- Weekly newspaper columns are published in five languages and in all major newspapers in Uganda, discussing violence against children.
- Five TV programs discussing violence against children have been taped and will be aired in 2006 on national TV.
- Multimedia presentations highlighting children’s voices on violence against them.
- Ten journalists have been identified who will be trained and will undertake in-depth reporting assignments on violence against children in Uganda.

Advocacy Film - "Voices on Violence"
This is 15 minute advocacy film about violence against children in Uganda. Four children tell their experiences of violence and the impact it has on their lives. We also hear from parents, community members and school administrators as they discuss the negative impact violence has on children.
