Overall Objective: To develop a local resource and response mechanisms for children experiencing violence.

a) Community-based Advocates Course

Specific Objective

• To strengthen capacity of 20 individuals to advocate for children’s rights and take action to protect vulnerable children.

Twenty individuals will be trained from diverse parts of the country to act as community-based activists. These individuals will be trained on children’s rights, legal protection that children have and obligations of the various stakeholders to protect children. Their role will be to act as local advocates for children’s rights and a resource for the community when a child within the community is experiencing violence. The advocate will also act to ensure that appropriate action is taken when a child reports violence.
